What it needs from you

It is not software you install and walk away from. It needs a server of its own, with memory and disk matched to the number of agents and to how long you want the logs kept, and it needs somebody to read what it says. The platform itself is free and open source — the cost is the server, the tuning and the watching, and we say so before the work rather than after it.

Tuning the rules is the whole job

Straight after installation Wazuh raises a great many alerts, most of which do not concern you, and anyone who leaves the defaults stops reading them inside a week. The real work is learning what normal looks like on your network: which service opens which port, who logs into what and when, which file changes are part of the day's work and which are not. We tune to that, then revisit it after the first weeks of running.

Wazuh does not replace the rest

It watches; it does not block. The firewall is what blocks, endpoint protection is what stops the malicious file, and the backup is what saves you on the day something gets past both. Wazuh is the layer that lets you know — and it is the layer missing from most of the networks we walk into.

Logs, for the day you are asked

Keeping a record of who reached the data and when, and being able to trace what happened after an incident, is what Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law 151 of 2020 asks for. Logs scattered across machines that each wipe their own when it fills are not an answer. Wazuh collects them and keeps them somewhere you can go back to.
