The server room is where the whole business stops if it overheats or loses power. We fit out a new room or data centre, or reorganise an existing one, so it stays safe, orderly and legible in two years.
What the fit-out covers
- Racks and cabinets: the right depth and height for what you have, with room to grow, plus in-rack cable management and power distribution.
- Cabling and labelling: data and power on separate routes, patch panels, and both ends of every cable labelled in a schedule you keep.
- Power and UPS sizing: the real load measured, a UPS sized for a safe shutdown or the wait for the generator, and a board for the room.
- Precision cooling: the heat load calculated, cooling that runs around the clock, cold air kept apart from hot.
- Door access and fire detection: a card or fingerprint lock that records entries, and smoke and heat sensors on the alarm.
From site visit to handover
We start on site: measuring the space, listing the equipment, checking power and the internet entry point. You get a room layout, an itemised supply list, a schedule and an agreed order of work if the room is live. Handover includes the labelling schedule, the rack layout and an equipment list with serials and any warranty dates. The work follows on from our server supply and network infrastructure, and the room can then go onto a maintenance contract covering batteries and cooling.

FAQ
Do we really need precision cooling, or will an ordinary air conditioner do?
It depends on the heat load and the hours of operation. A room with one or two machines in an office that works by day may be fine with a good ordinary unit — bearing in mind it is not built to run continuously and does not control humidity. A room that runs around the clock, or holds a full rack, will find the ordinary unit cuts out at the worst moment. We calculate the load and tell you which of the two suits you, even when that is the cheaper one.
How long will the UPS keep the room running during a power cut?
A UPS is sized against the real load and the runtime required. In practice it is a way to shut systems down safely, or to cover the gap until the generator starts — not a substitute for a power supply. If the business cannot tolerate stopping during a long outage, the answer is a generator, and we say so from the start. UPS batteries are also a consumable: they weaken over time and need testing and replacement, a recurring cost we put in the quotation.
Can the fit-out be done without stopping work?
Most of it, yes: the rack, the cabling, the cooling and the door access go in with the room live. But some steps cannot be done without planned downtime — moving the machines into the new rack, connecting the distribution board, and putting the UPS on the line. We identify those steps in advance and schedule them in an agreed window outside working hours, with everything prepared beforehand so the window stays as short as it can be.
